Ambergate Chip Shop

Fabulous British chip shop with everything you would expect plus a few extra; like frickles (battered, deep fried pickles and pickled onions). And owner-operator always creates interesting chip-toppers and to go with chips (or rice if you prefer) that can include; pulled pork, pea & paneer dahl, coconut chicken and many more!

Most certainly the best Traditional chippy in Belper. Have tried the others locally but this is by far the best. Fish was perfectly freshly cooked and the chips were on point! Would highly recommend this chippy.

Found this little chippy while on a hike. This is a real gem. 💯 The small cod and chips was a good portion, couldn't finish all by myself, hubby happily helped out. We had mushy peas and curry sauce and they were amazing! All home-made and delicious. The fish was tasty and the batter was crispy and not greasy at all. The chips was nice too. Freindly people, lovely place, you can eat in too. Don't miss it poeple, when you are in Ambergate!

Wow .. We just dropped in for fish and chips, and they were amazing ! We ate in, it's very cosy and friendly ! We chose the meal deal for just £9 . Great size cod, chips and peas. All beautifully, freshly cooked. The cod was perfectly cooked in light crispy batter. The chips were lovely and crunchy and the mushy peas were yummy with just right level of salt.. best in the area in my opinion. Lovely, friendly and always very warm and welcoming. Thankyou so much We'll see you again soon .

I've started to use this chippy over the months and now its time for a review. This chippy is fantastic. The fish and chips are first class. The chips and batter is crispy and there are a lot of food choices. Amazingly the owner provides some gluten free options including certain non fried foods which are home made dishes curry, lasagna, etc, they are different each week which, I must say, I've tried and is first class too. If you are gluten intolerant then they offer gluten free batter for your fish noting that its still fried in the same oil as the non gluten fish batter at the moment (that suits me though, no issues at all). All-in-all a brilliant chippy and I hope this business flourishes.

A superb traditional Fish and Chip shop. First time visit tonight as a family. They serve really good fish and chips along with some home made dishes. Fish is cooked to order. We ate in. Crispy batter, crunchy chips. My wife enjoyed the lasagne and my children are scampi. All in all the best we've had in the area. Will be back. Parking is tight but do able. Best fish and chips we've had away from the coast. Yum.!!
